Grand Tourists and Others: Travelling Abroad before the Twentieth Century

This exhibition, which traces the history of travel within Europe between the 17th and 20th centuries, has been curated by Dr Ross Balzaretti (Head of History) and staff from Manuscripts and Special Collections. It runs until 7 August at the Weston Gallery, Nottingham Lakeside Arts.

The exhibition focuses on manuscripts and printed books held by the University, supplemented by loans from the Nottingham Castle Museum and several private collectors. It was formally opened on 28 April by Levison Wood, explorer, author and photographer, who graduated from the History department at Nottingham in 2004. The opening was attended by more than 140 people.

Further details, including the associated programme of public events, can be found here. The event is part of the fringe of season 2 of The Grand Tour.
