Qualifications

Essential

  • A first degree in an appropriate subject area (engineering, physical science, technology or mathematics).

and either or both of the following:

  • A Certified Chartered Engineer (or equivalent professional registration with a national regulatory body for Engineering).
  • Doctorate degree in engineering or design discipline.

Skills

Essential

  • High level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strategic and operational planning, management and business process skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate staff.
  • Ability to effectively influence colleagues without direct authority/line management.
  • Able to demonstrate a passion for Engineering, the University of Nottingham and the Faculty of Engineering.
  • Able to demonstrate credibility with academic colleagues.

 Desirable

  • Previous experience of sales in a customer facing role.

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Substantial experience of working within a large organisation with direct accountability to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience of developing and implementing strategy.
  • Experience of project management.
  • Experience of working with and influencing senior management.
  • Experience of financial/budget management at a significant level.
  • Experience of developing strategic relationships with third parties.
  • High levels of business acumen and commercial awareness

Desirable

  • Experience of Higher Education recruitment processes and markets.
  • Widespread awareness and understanding of University activities and objectives

Statutory, legal or special requirements

Essential

  • Highly flexible and prepared to undertake extensive international travel as required throughout the year.
