The Research and Innovation (R&I) team provide comprehensive support throughout the research and knowledge exchange innovation lifecycle, from first ideas through to commercialisation and industry partnerships, building a community of innovation that interfaces with the University resources seamlessly adding value for our students and our research. The team provide invaluable guidance and expert advice to support the delivery of the University’s research and knowledge exchange (RKE) strategies. Following significant investment by the university, a restructure of the directorate has created a new position, Director of Innovation & Enterprise, and CEO of UNIP Ltd.
This is a unique opportunity to join the Research & Innovation (R&I) leadership team, to drive the expansion and delivery of UoN’s Innovation Parks (UNIP). UNIP will be the primary vehicle for the co-location of partners and the creation of innovation communities on our campuses that support our research, knowledge exchange and civic ambitions. UNIP will ensure a high-quality service to tenants and licensees that delivers both income and research and knowledge exchange benefit to the University and clients.
As the inaugural, Director of Innovation & Enterprise, and CEO of University of Nottingham Innovation Parks (UNIP) Ltd you will lead the strategy, business development and operations across our Innovation Park sites. You will have responsibility for furthering our ambitions for UNIP, in particularly developing, promoting, and implementing on our vision for the new Castle Meadows Campus (CMC), which at least doubles the UNIP lettable space. You will create a vibrant, efficient working environment which is attractive for world-leading academics, innovative technology companies and entrepreneurs.

The role
You will be a strategic leader with a clear understanding of the UK and global research and innovation landscapes, with a track record in research and innovation, entrepreneurship and business development activities and projects. You will be able to demonstrate your experience of building national and international networks of senior contacts in relevant sectors and within higher education, to support the creation of productive partnerships. This is a complex environment, so the ability to effectively manage ambiguity and to develop strong stakeholder relationships will be key.

This role is offered on a full-time permanent basis, though consideration will be given to requests for alternative working hours. We offer a hybrid approach for working arrangements which means an average of 3 days per week on campus.
