Provide evidence of your qualifications

Provide scanned copies of your transcript or certificate confirming your qualifications. You can upload scanned documents via our online application system, NottinghamHub. We can accept high-quality photos as copies as long as the document is an official transcript of your marks on headed paper.

Any documents you submit must be in English. You can also supply a certified translation if the original documents are not available in English.

Send us your references

If you included contact details for your referees in your application, the University will contact them directly to request a reference on your behalf.

Alternatively, you can upload electronic copies of your references on official letterheaded paper via the online application system, NottinghamHub.

For postgraduate courses starting on other dates during the year, the deadline for providing results and meeting offer conditions is typically eight working days before the course start date, but this may vary for individual courses.
You can check the deadline for submitting your results in our online application system, NottinghamHub.

Provide evidence of your English language ability

If English isn't your first language, you will also need to meet the relevant English language requirements. IELTS requirements are detailed on our course pages, though we also accept alternative English language qualifications.

The deadlines for meeting our English language conditions are the same as the deadline listed above for submitting documents.

If you require additional support to develop your language skills, you may be able to study a presessional course with the Centre for English Language Education.

Pay tuition fees

Tuition fees are paid in instalments. Once you have received an offer to study with us, payment deadlines for your instalments will be displayed in our online application system, NottinghamHub

Starting in September 2024:

If you are an international student starting a full-time postgraduate taught course in September 2024, you will need to pay a CAS deposit (tuition fee deposit) of at least £2,000 by 13 September 2024 as part of the visa process.

Starting after September 2024:

If you are an international student starting a full-time postgraduate taught course after September 2024, you need to pay CAS deposit (tuition fee deposit) of at least £3,000 as part of the visa process

If you hold a full tuition fee scholarship or are fully sponsored, your fee deposit may be waived.

Apply for your visa

If you need a student visa to study in the UK, you will be sent a CAS document by email once you have received and firmly accepted an unconditional offer.

Check you've uploaded all documents required to meet the conditions of your offer via our online application system, NottinghamHub.

If you intend to study a full-time postgraduate taught course, such as a masters or diploma, you will need to pay your tuition fee deposit before we can issue the CAS number for your visa application.

The earliest your CAS number can be issued is four months before your course start date. The earliest you can apply for your visa is three months before your course start date.

Additional guidance for international students

Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS)

Some courses require you to obtain Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) clearance from the UK government before applying for your visa. If this applies to you, the University will email your ATAS statement to you along with instructions on how to apply. The earliest this will be sent is six months before your course start date. For more information, see the UK government’s ATAS guidance.

Progression and time limit

If you are an international student who has studied in the UK before, we may need you to complete an academic progression and time limit questionnaire (Microsoft Word document).

Fill in the questionnaire with as much information as possible. You will also need to provide the following information, if you haven’t already:

  • Copy of a transcript to date for your previous UK study at the same National Qualifications Framework level
  • An academic reference from your previous course manager or supervisor

Once completed, upload the form with any supporting documents via our online application system, NottinghamHub.
