Former CRAL Research Assistant Gavin Brookes awarded MA Prize

Gavin Brookes was awarded an MA prize for attaining the highest average score among MA students in the School of English. During his MA, Gavin held a postgraduate research scholarship within CRAL (Centre for Research in Applied Linguistics).

Gavin is currently pursuing his PhD studies for which he won an ESRC scholarship to work on health communication and corpus linguistics.

His PhD research topic is “Constructions of Diabulimia in online health communication:  A corpus linguistic approach”. Gavin is supervised by Dr. Kevin Harvey, Professor Michaela Mahlberg and Professor Svenja Adolphs.

Gavin also works as Editorial Assistant for the International Journal of Corpus Linguistics.
