Sensors, analytics and modelling

Rapid advancement of the digital age has seen a shift towards smart, autonomous systems across the manufacturing and processing industries.

Commercial value realisation is shifting from production to design and implementation of technologies that can exploit the wealth of data that can be collected and analysed. We are investigating the use of sensors across a range of applications to characterise materials and processes to allow digital manufacturing.

Our research ranges from the of application low cost sensors which are connected to a cloud server for near real-time predictive analytics, to the development of high throughput novel discrimination technologies for the characterisation and separation of heterogeneous materials, thorough to sensing systems for harsh and remote environments. Online sensing technologies have the potential to reduce costs, increase resource utilisation and minimise waste in processing.
