The Story of The University of Nottingham China Campus

The University of Nottingham’s links with China date back for many years, with well over 90 collaborations with Chinese universities. There are currently 1,560 students from China studying at The University of Nottingham, UK (1,856 of Chinese nationality); the highest proportion of students from any international location.

Building on huge international commitment, and including its already successful campus in Malaysia, the University has put itself at the forefront of global education. The long history of collaboration and partnership between The University of Nottingham and China culminated in the historic development of a campus on the east coast of China, in the prosperous and successful city of Ningbo in Zhejiang Province.

Nottingham was the first foreign university to establish a campus in China. Opened in 2004, the Campus currently has over 4,400 full-time students and around 350 teaching and administrative staff from all over the world.

The University of Nottingham Ningbo's mission statement is "Academic Excellence in the Service of Global Citizenship". This means that The University of Nottingham Ningbo, China has committed itself to developing subjects that combine internationally ranked teaching and research excellence with Chinese needs for internationalisation and globalisation.
