Tree planting in memory of Bassem Al-Zahrani

On the afternoon of Friday, 06 December, CELE staff and students had a short informal ceremony around the tree that the School of Education has planted in memory of Bassem Al-Zahrani, who sadly passed away in June 2012 while he was studying here in the UK.  Students from King Abdul Aziz University (Bassem’s home university) were there and read a prayer in Arabic.  Staff from CELE read some poems and then we all put a spade of earth around the tree to complete its planting.  The tree is bare and leafless now but we all look forward to it coming to life in spring and that it will be a lasting memory of Bassem.
