PGCE Students - Digital Books Project

Our PGCE students are looking forward to working with De Ferrers Academy and Apple on an exciting Digital Books Project in May.

On our secondary PGCE course we have a two-week phase where students follow a personalised programme that responds to their specific professional development needs and personal interests. Students do a wide range of things in this period, including placements at special schools, zoos and other educational settings.

This year we are working with one of our partnership schools, De Ferrers Academy, on a joint project supported by Apple.

27 students from a range of subjects will be working with colleagues in school to produce a series of interactive digital books for publication on iTunes. The outcome will be quality, multi-touch books that address areas of difficulty/misconceptions in a range of GCSE subjects.

The week will comprise:

  • a range of workshops led by senior colleagues at Apple and Apple Distinguished Educators at De Ferrers focusing on digital pedagogies
  • time to work collaboratively in subjects to produce a digital book
  • opportunities to share and showcase the work produced

We are very excited about this project and will be looking forward to our students reporting back on their experience and the books they create.
