On Tuesday 20th September Rob Pope, Professor at Oxford Brookes University and the author of Textual Intervention, Studying English Language and Literature, and Creativity spoke at the English Language Teachers’ Network Meeting on Re-writing Creativity: Language, Literature and Creative Practice.
During his talk, Rob drew on his seminal work on creativity and pedagogy to explore the relationship between language, literature and creativity and provided illuminating examples of how linguistics can sit at the heart of the English curriculum. Rob’s 1995 book 'Textual Intervention' (Routledge) has been a key text for English teachers working in all phases of education for many years. Those who attended were very fortunate both to have the opportunity to listen to Rob talk about his work and to try out activities for themselves!
