Dr Mike Collins receives thesis award

Congratulations to Dr Mike Collins who has been recognised as the runner-up for the British Educational Leadership, Management and Administrative Society (BELMAS) Doctoral Thesis Award 2023.

Dr Collins's completed his Professional Doctorate in Education (EdD) at UCL in February, his thesis was titled: Making Sense of Complexity: Executive Leaders and Executive Leadership in an English Multi Academy Trust.

For this award, the BELMAS panel were looking for a thesis which:

• disseminates ideas which advance, or challenge, concepts of leadership and management and their relationship with educational improvement
• encourages collaboration, or debate, among academics, practitioners and policymakers within and across educational sectors
• promotes reflective and research-based approaches to leadership and management

Dr Collins joined the School of Education in April, working as a senior research fellow on the Sustainable School Leadership project. About the award, he says "I'm delighted and honoured to have my work recognised in this way and am looking forward to developing the work further with colleagues in Nottingham."
