Professor Murphy visits College for Humanistic Sciences ICPS in Athens

Professor David Murphy has paid a two-day visit to the College for Humanistic Sciences ICPS in Athens to work with trainers and students involved with Person-Centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD).

PCE-CFD training is available almost exclusively in England where it is offered to psychologists, counsellors and psychotherapists who work within the National Health Service (NHS). The first and only other place outside of England where PCE-CfD training is currently offered is the College for Humanistic Sciences in Athens, with certification awarded by the University of Central Lancashire.

As part of his visit, Professor Murphy discussed education trends,  challenges and solutions with ICPS programme trainers and students. He shared new data on the effectiveness of PCE-CfD and methods that therapists and supervisors can apply to their practice. The visit reinforced the belief of the trainers and students that when PCE-CfD theories are approached in an authentic way, and on a scientific basis, they can really bring substantial change.

Professor Murphy has been appointed President of the Scientific Committee for the 2024 World Association for Person Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy and Counselling Conference which will take place in Athens.
