Jubilee Campus: Advanced Manufacturing Building

The construction of the Advanced Manufacturing Building on Jubilee Campus will connect the campus to Derby road and the adjacent Gatehouse Lodge. The building comprises office space, laboratories and seminar space for the Faculty of Engineering.

GF Tomlinson have commenced on site and a link to the live webcam is located here.

The architect is Bond Bryan, with Arup acting as structural and services engineer. Turner & Townsend are project manager and Currie & Brown Ltd are the cost managers.

As part of the project, there will be a new scout hut built, as per the below image. This is complete and has been in operation since spring 2017.

Jubilee Campus: Research Acceleration and Demonstration (RAD) Building

The University of Nottingham is a theme lead for the successful Energy Research Accelerator (ERA) initiative in the Midlands and as part of this initiative a new Research Acceleration and Demonstration (RAD) building is currently being developed to accommodate an expansion in activities. A location for the RAD building has been identified - the former Dairy Crest site on Jubilee Campus, fronting onto the spine road.

The design includes laboratory space for the various research groups as well as office space for academics and postgraduate students and a central atrium with breakout spaces. The building has been designed to achieve BREEAM Excellent and will include Passivehaus measures to reduce energy requirements.

The architect for the scheme are Lewis & Hickey, with BWB acting as structural & civil engineers and CPW as services engineer. AECOM are project managers and Turner & Townsend are cost managers. Robert Woodhead are the main contractors for the scheme.

Sutton Bonington: North Lab Redevelopment

The North Lab building is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment and extension which includes the second phase of the STEM Lab HEFCE funded project. Teaching has commenced in the laboratory and the external and upper floor refurbishment will continue until late 2018.

University Park: Teaching and Learning Hub

The latest addition to University Park will be the Teaching and Learning Hub. Positioned adjacent to Hallward Library and in the centre of campus, this will provide a much needed boost to the University's teaching requirements and will include a number of differing size teaching rooms, 300 seat lecture theatre, performing arts space, social learning hub and staff offices.

The architect is Make architects, with Howard Stanley Pratt as structural engineer and Max Fordham as services engineer. Gleeds are acting as project manager and Aecom as cost manager.

University Park: Portland Building Refurbishment

Phase 3 (2017) works included a new cafe (Portland Coffe Company) as well as new retail spaces on B floor. A new student welcome reception will also be developed on C floor of the building. In 2017 there is also a landscaping project undertaken on Portland Hill, which will include large water features, terracing and sky canopy.

The second phase of the 4 year refurbishment programme of the Portland Building, completed in 2016 and created a large extension of the Mooch bar external terrace, external food court terrace and refurbished office space for the Students' Union. The installation of giant TV screen has also been completed as part of this phase.

This is in addition to phase 1 (completed in 2015) which included The Studio and Studio 'Live' spaces.

Phase 4 plans are currently in development, further information will be available here and on the Students' Union website in due course.

Gleeds are acting as project and cost manager. CPMG are leading the design and acting as architect, Price & Myers are the structural engineer and CPW are acting as services consultant.

University Park: Cripps Health Centre

The University of Nottingham has the largest Health Centre in the country. A new modern centre incorporating doctors, dentists, occupational health and pharmacy is to be constructed fully funded by the Cripps family.

The new health centre will open for September 2018

The architect for the scheme CPMG, with Arup acting as structural, civil and services engineers. Faithful and Gould are project managers and Gleeds are cost managers. Interserve are the main contractor completing the project.

University Park: Centre for Biomolecular Sciences Expansion

The expansion of the centre is due to commence in early 2018, the building will house a variety of different research groups and includes different levels of laboratories. It will also include links to Boots Science Building and a link to the remainder of CBS, as well as offices and meeting rooms for all academic and postrgraduate staff.

BuroFour are project managers and Gleeds are acting as cost managers. The architect on the project is Benoy with DH Squires as services consultant and Collins Hall Green as structural and civil engineer.
