Biography of Edward Mellish (1707-1757)

Edward was the eldest son of Joseph Mellish of Blyth Hall, and inherited the estate on the death of his father in 1733.

He was educated at Eton and entered Corpus Christi College, Oxford, in 1726, and Peterhouse, Cambridge, in 1727. He went on the Grand Tour between 1729 and 1730.

He and his wife were buried at Doncaster. The Blyth estate was inherited by his younger brother William Mellish (1708-1791).

Family

He married Sarah Herne (d 1781) at Aix in 1741. They had no children.
