Wearing the Green and Gold is about so much more than just pulling on a jersey. Every student who does so becomes part of the fabric of the University’s illustrious sporting history.

The 2019/20 season marked a hugely significant milestone as our rugby club celebrated its centenary. From the stewardship of the first ever captain D.L. Nicholas, to today’s President Lawrence Davies, the club’s tradition is rich. Nottingham’s proud rugby heritage has contributed to the development of world-class rugby players; from the iconic Brian Moore, England caps Ron Jacobs and Nick Preston, and more recently Tim Streather and Chris Wyles.

The centenary season celebrated the thousands who have worn the Green and Gold. Whether for just one game or many, the experience of being part of the team marks a significant contribution to who many have become today.

The centenary season

Players shared memories from their time on campus, many joined us for a special Centenary Dinner with Brian Moore himself, and so many supported our Centenary Appeal to provide current and future students with greater opportunities to benefit from the unique experiences which being part of the Rugby Club provides. Thank you all!
