Mark Boardman, Director at BEM Services, attended the Help to Grow: Management course in 2025.
BEM Services works with their clients to advise on efficient and effective energy usage that minimises environmental impact and reduces running costs. They work with clients across the UK and Africa, providing mechanical and electrical engineering expertise across all sectors of the construction industry.
Mark signed up for the Help to Grow: Management course because he was interested in “finding a training programme that could help me advance my business in the coming years. I believe in continued learning throughout our careers. The low cost certainly made me consider this course too.”
Help to Grow: Management is a business development course which has been developed by the Chartered Association of Business Schools, in collaboration with business schools across the UK. The course combines academic insights with real-world business case studies to strengthen the participants’ personal leadership skills and to help them to move their businesses forwards.
With sessions on marketing, financial and operational management, identifying company values, strategy and innovation, among others, the course features helpful guidance no matter the needs of your business. The sessions are delivered as online workshops and peer group meetings, with face-to-face case studies that bring participants together for networking and an in-depth look at real business practices.
For Mark, “The Finance and Marketing sections were the most interesting. I find these areas the most challenging within my business so I paid special attention to these. The course has allowed me to develop a plan for growth which I would not normally have been able to create on my own. The help of the tutors has been a great aid to this work.
The course has given me more confidence that I can achieve the company goals that I have set. My company has grown slowly over the past 10 years but I can now see it growing more quickly thanks to the course.
