Critical appraisal for BestBETs for Vets

The relevant studies that are found to answer the BET are critically appraised by the BestBETs for Vets team to assess their quality.

BestBETs team

• Each study is critically appraised using a standard set of questions.
• The specific set of questions we use depends on the type of the study being assessed, e.g. randomised controlled trial, cohort study. Click here for more information on study types.
• The critical appraisal process allows us to assess the quality of each study and identify any potential biases that may have affected its conclusions. This forms the basis of assessing the validity and applicability of the study results to clinical practice.
• Any important issues arising from the critical appraisal will be outlined in the BET document.
• The BET question is answered based on the strength of the available evidence in the form of a “Clinical Bottom Line”.
