Description

It’s time for Cine Club #2! On Monday 12 December at 6pm we’re screening the brilliant 'Argentina, 1985' (dir. Santiago Mitre, 2022). Did we mention there's popcorn?

Argentina, 1985 tells the true story of two public prosecutors who dared to investigate and prosecute the ringleaders of Argentina's last military dictatorship. It's a tense, brilliantly acted courtroom drama about this historic race against time to bring justice to the victims of the military junta.

Cine Club is run by staff based in Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies (SPLAS). Each month, a member of staff chooses a Spanish or a Portuguese language film to screen, after which the film will be discussed in the target language. The screenings are primarily aimed at students in SPLAS, but if you are an MLC student and understand Spanish or Portuguese, don’t hesitate to join. We welcome all levels and Cine Club is a wonderful opportunity for extra speaking and listening practice.

This month’s film will be organised by Dr Adriana Arista-Zerga
