Hua joined the Nottingham Confucius Institute in August 2016. Prior to that, she worked as External Relations Manager at Nottingham's School of Contemporary Chinese Studies. She began her career in the UK Higher Education sector in 2004, gaining extensive experience and developing a comprehensive understanding of issues relating to student recruitment, marketing, external relations and event management. She project managed the IFCCS (International Forum for Contemporary Chinese Studies) conferences from 2010 to 2015. She has also been heavily involved in organising the annual Nottingham Chinese New Year Gala, one of the biggest and most anticipated CNY celebration events in the region since 2010.
Hua holds a Master's degree in English Language Teaching (with distinction) from the University of Nottingham. Before coming to the UK to pursue her Masters degree, she taught English at Xi'an Jiaotong University, where she graduated with a BA in English for Specific Purposes.
