The university will enter vacation opening hours over the summer break.
The summer term will end on Friday 23 June, with the 2023/24 academic year beginning on Monday 25 September.
Services on campus may have adjusted opening hours, with some closing completely.

Libraries
24/7 library opening hours have now ended and all libraries will enter vacation opening hours.

Don’t forget to return any books before you leave. You can return books by post, via our 24/7 book boxes outside libraries or through our self-service machines. If you’re taking books with you, check your email regularly to see if these have been requested and are due for return.
The following resources are available remotely over the summer:
- Library Access - a browser extension for easy access to online resources
- Digital scan requests - for copies of printed materials (within copyright restrictions)
- Postal loans – to request a physical copy send directly to you
- SCONUL Access - sign up to use other university libraries across the country
Catering
Catering outlets – including cafes and restaurants – will have varying opening hours over the summer break or may be closed completely. We’ll update this article once we have the details.
Student Service Centres
Student Service Centres will maintain their usual opening hours, with the exception of Royal Derby Hospital, where the service centre will be closed from Friday 30 June – Tuesday 29 August.

Hopper buses
From Monday 26 June the 903 (University Park - Jubilee Campus) and 904 (University Park – Royal Derby Hospital) will switch to their vacation timetables. During the vacation period the 903 and 904 operate Monday to Friday only and with a reduced service frequency so please check timetables before travelling.
Services 901 (University Park – Sutton Bonington) and 902 (University Park – King’s Meadow Campus) will continue to operate their normal timetables over the summer vacation.

Sports facilities
Our campus sports centres will maintain standard opening hours over the summer period, with the exception of the August Bank Holiday.
Sport centre opening hours
- David Ross Sports Village : 6.30am - 10.30pm Monday to Sunday
- Jubilee Sports Centre: 7am – 10.30pm Monday to Friday | 8am – 10pm Saturday & Sunday
- Sutton Bonington Sports Centre: 7.30am – 10.30pm Monday to Friday | 9am to 10pm Saturday & Sunday
Bank Holiday (Monday 28 August) opening hours
- David Ross: 8.15am – 4pm
- Jubilee: Closed
- Sutton Bonington: 11.45am – 7.30pm
