External calls using Skype for Business

Skype for Business is available for calls, instant messaging and desktop video conferencing within and external to the University. 



If you need to make or receive external calls and you do not have a mobile phone that you can divert calls to, we recommend using Skype for Business, which can be installed on a desktop computer, laptop or mobile device.

check_circle   Skype for Business is only available to University Staff and Postgraduate Researchers

check_circle   Can be installed on a desktop computer, laptop or mobile device on Windows, Mac OS X, iOS and Android

check_circle   Transfer your University telephone number to a Skype for Business account to make and receive external calls. If anyone calls your desk phone number, you will receive it through Skype for Business on your computer, eliminating the need for you to have a desk phone.

Note: Making external calls on Skype for Business is a chargeable service and is paid for by your department. Calls made on mobile devices will use your data allowance unless you are connected to a wireless network.
