BHM Event Header 25

Every October, we take the time and space to celebrate Black history, culture, and achievements. Black History Month recognises the invaluable contributions of Black people to our university, our communities and our society as a whole. It also serves as an opportunity to inspire and empower future generations.

We are pleased to have received several proposals for activities to celebrate Black History Month and this year’s theme, Standing Firm in Power and Pride. Standing Firm in Power and Pride is a real moment for us to uplift the beauty and strength of the Black diaspora in its entirety, regardless of our heritage and ancestry. The events being planned across the university are an invitation for us all to learn, connect and belong.

Please visit the EDI in Practice SharePoint [accessible to UoN staff] for information on activities happening across the University for Black History Month 2025.

Celebrating Black History Month over the years

Over the past few years, the university has held some amazing events to recognise and celebrate Black History Month. We encourage you to have a look back at events, workshops and discussions from previous years.
