Engineering Christmas Lecture 2019, Wednesday 18 December 2019

This year's annual Christmas lecture will be presented by Jez Turner and Tom Westby and entitled "The 50th Anniversary of Engineers Landing People on the Moon".

This interactive lecture will look at three main areas:

  • A look at rocket technology, spacecraft design, the Apollo missions and the future of spaceflight with rocket demonstrations.
  • An introduction to space engineering and the use of space to enhance the lives of everyone at The University of Nottingham.
  • How to be a space engineer/rocket scientist.

Join us for an afternoon of engineering entertainment, browse the interactive activities in our Engineering & Science learning Centre and get the chance to find out more about applying to university and the courses available.  The lecture is designed to enhance the national curriculum, driving interest into STEM subjects while showing how exciting and diverse the world of engineering is.

Places are free of charge and limited to 50 pupils per school and free coach parking is available on campus.

Schools will be allocated a time slot for lunch and to tour the activities before being escorted to the lecture theatre.

Aimed at Years 8 upwards, with an interest in science and engineering.
