The ESE team work with staff and students in the School of English to ensure that you make the most of the many opportunities that exist at the University to add to your experience outside of your studies. You’ll receive regular communications from the team over email and social media to give you important information about your course, events that you might be interested in and the chance to sign up for schemes such as peer mentoring or being a digital ambassador.
Student voice is an important part of our role. We work with the Student Union to recruit and train student course reps and organise the regular staff/student meetings (known as Learning Community Forums) where we gather and act on your feedback so that our community continues to develop.
Student Experience Fund
Our ESE team organise events in the School for Wobble Week (which takes place early in the Autumn semester). This is a week full of activities for students, with the aim of creating a sense of belonging and community in the University. Last year our activities included ‘crafternoons’ and pumpkin carving.
These photos are from our Spring Festival celebrations. Both students and staff were invited to a celebratory lunch, with performances from the students including poetry reading and riddles.
We welcomed staff and students to our Christmas quiz. Prizes included vouchers to our on campus burger bar ‘Mooch’ and to the independent book shop ‘Five Leaves’, as well as some treats from ‘Blackwells’ on campus! Check your emails throughout the year for more community events.
The ESE team organised a chill out zone in the student common room, where students could make a goodie bag full of treats, indulge in some mindful colouring or just have a chat.
