Welcome to the School of English! We want to make it as easy as possible for you to start your course so on this page we've put together useful links and resources in one place to help you with your first few weeks at University.
 

Find your Student Hub!

All students are given access to an online Community or Student Experience Hub. The hubs can be found on Moodle (UG and PGT courses) and Sharepoint (PGR).

 

Official Documents and Letters

During and after your studies you may be required to obtain official documents from the University of Nottingham.This could include confirmation that you're a current student, a letter to open a student bank account and a letter to confirm you're eligible for a council tax exemption.

Personal Tutor

Your personal tutor is there to help support your profesional and academic development, as well as helping to support pastoral and wellbeing needs.

You can find the name of your personal tutor through the MyNottingham app and on School of English notice boards.

Digital and Technology Services

The Digital and Technology Services team are there to help you with all the software, programs and technology you need to use at University.

The Student IT Support Tutors are current students who are on hand to help fellow students with IT problems and offer IT advice. For the start of term they are available through virtual Smart Bar sessions.

Registry and Academic Affairs

Student Service Centres offer support and guidance to students at all stages of study, from registration and module selection to help with assessment and other regulations. They also signpost to other services, including International Student Support, Wellbeing and Disability Services.’ 

The main Student Service Centre for English Students is University Park Central (UPC).

Peer Mentors

Peer Mentors are students currently studying in the School who volunteer to use their experiences to support, guide and help new students settle in to the School and wider University.  

We aim to provide mentors to new first year, 2+2 and PGT students. PGR students are supported through the University’s ADAPT mentoring scheme.

Student Support and Wellbeing Officers

The Student Support and Wellbeing Officers help students to find the right support service for them.  

They also offer advice on policies and processes such as extenuating circumstances or interruption of studies.

Student's Union Advice Centre

The Student's Union Advice Centre is completely independent from the University. The service offers confidential and impartial advice to all students.

The Advice Centre can provide information on Housing, Finances, Health and Wellbeing, Employment and your course.

Mental Health Support

The University of Nottingham has a  mental health and wellbeing service that all students can access, free of charge. This includes counselling, and advice for specific issues such as bereavement, healthy eating and LGBTQ+ support.
