The Classical Association of Nottingham is devoted to promoting Classics, Ancient History and Classical Archaeology among the broader community in Nottingham and the East Midlands.
We are interested in sharing our passion for the subject among all with an interest in classical antiquity, including school teachers and students and members of the general public.
We hold regular events, including our annual Thomas Wiedemann Memorial Lecture and the Elliot Lecture for schools. We are part of a wider network of regional branches of the Classical Association.
If you are a teacher of Classics in the East Midlands or if you simply want to get in touch, please sign up to our mailing list.

Medea as Symbol: Power and Resistance
Medea is a key figure of Graeco-Roman myth and literature, who inspired countless different readings over the centuries. On the occasion of the Festival Européen Latin Grec 2025 (Lyon, https://festival-latingrec.eu/), which this year will be focussing on Seneca’s Medea as a theme, researchers and students of the Department of Classics and Archaeology at UoN will gather together for a Medea-themed afternoon.
