Description
A street scene with a yellow and white tram over a border of the whole page. Yellow text reads "Would you kill one person to save five?"

Would you kill one person to save five?

Would you kill one person to save five?

Put yourself to the test at the Trolley Problem virtual experience.

Trolley Problem asks whether the driver of a runaway train should divert the train away from a track with five people on it onto a track with just one person. During a 45min Virtual Reality experience, immerse yourself into various ‘levels’ of the trolley problem. Making increasingly complex moral decisions, and discussing your decisions with a partner and facilitators from the University of Nottingham.

Explore the VR Trolley Problem in pairs. There are a maximum of 6 players (3 sets of pairs) for each slot.

  • 12pm -1pm
  • 1.30pm - 2.30pm
  • 3pm - 4pm

Single players are welcome along and will be paired up for the experience. Spaces are extremely limited, please book early to avoid disappointment.

Standard tickets cost £10 but you can get the ticket for half price, at £5, by completing a questionnaire. To purchase tickets follow the link here.

Join us also for the evening talks from 5pm - 6.30pm. The topics will cover a range of philosophical queries and conundrums brought to you by some of our excellent academics:

  • Prof. Neil Sinclair ‘Discovering Moral Truth

  • Prof. Chris Woodard ‘The Trolley Problem’

  • Dr Joe Cunningham ‘Would you enter the experience Machine?’
  • Dr. Lydia Farina ‘Virtual Identity’

  • Dr. Nele Van de Mosselaer ‘Is Virtual Reality Real?’
