Associate Professor Jon Hoover awarded Leverhulme Research Fellowship

Congratulations to Jon Hoover who was recently awarded a one-year Leverhulme Research Fellowship by the Leverhulme Trust to work on his project ‘God and space in the theology of Ibn Taymiyya (d. 1328)’.

An Associate Professor of Islamic Studies, Jon Hoover is an expert on the prominent medieval theologian Ibn Taymiyya. His publications include the book Ibn Taymiyya’s Theology of Perpetual Optimism and several articles on Ibn Taymiyya and his foremost student Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya.  Jon recently said, "I am delighted to have received a Leverhulme Research Fellowship. This award will allow me to investigate an aspect of Islamic theology that has long puzzled me."

The Leverhulme Trust was established in 1925 under the Will of the first Viscount Leverhulme. It is one of the largest all-subject providers of research funding in the UK, distributing funds of some £60m annually.
