Conor Cunningham and Simon Oliver present papers in the USA

In December 2013 Dr Conor Cunningham and Dr Simon Oliver presented papers at a conference entitled ‘Christian Wisdom meets Modernity’ at the University of Notre Dame in the United States.

Scholars from around the world engaged the thought of significant modern thinkers from a theological perspective. Dr Cunningham presented a paper on Charles Darwin and Dr Oliver a paper on the twentieth century Jewish philosopher Hans Jonas.

The conference was part of a major ten year project entitled Illuminating Modernity which examines the decisive chapter of ‘the modern’ in our intellectual and cultural history through book series, conferences and electronic resources for scholars and students.
