Carly Crouch wins 2017 David Noel Freedman Award

The School of Humanities is delighted to announce that Dr Carly Crouch (TRS) has been awarded the 2017 David Noel Freedman Award for Excellence and Creativity in Hebrew Bible Scholarship by the Society of Biblical Literature for her essay, ‘Playing Favourites: Israel, Judah, and the Marriage Metaphor in Jeremiah 3’.

The goal of the Freedman Award is to promote excellence and creativity in Hebrew Bible scholarship. The award is given to a member who has received a Ph.D. or Th.D, in biblical studies or related field since 2005. Papers for the award are evaluated on the basis of three categories: persuasive thesis that engages the Hebrew Bible, clarity of expression and thought, and originality and creativity.
