Chief Business Intelligence Officer

The University of Nottingham is a research-intensive university with campuses in three countries, in Nottingham in the UK, in Ningbo in China and in Semenyih in Malaysia. We have over 48000 students across all three campuses and more than 8000 staff in the UK alone.

We have ambitious plans to improve quality across a range of activities; Education, Research, People as well as Economic & Environmental Sustainability, and to be in the top quartile in the sector for most of these activities by 2027/28. To support that ambition, the Planning, Performance & Strategic Change (PPSC) team is future-focusing its services. PPSC brings together the planning and analytical functions of the University with strategic development and change management to provide support to business planning, strategy, and governance processes.

The Chief Business Intelligence Officer is a newly created position that will lead, develop, and manage the Insight and Analytics team, building a culture across the organisation where reliable data provides insight and drives decision making.

In this role you will lead a programme of work to improve data quality and drive the development & implementation of a business intelligence strategy for the University. This is a pivotal role that will underpin what decisions we make as a university and will be key to the successful delivery of our strategy.

The role

You will bring strategic leadership experience gained at a senior level across higher education or the wider public sector and you will demonstrate a successful track record of driving improvements to data governance and insight led decision making.

As CBIO you will support our most senior leaders as well as staff and students right across the university, which means an ability to tailor engaging outputs to a variety of audiences and bring our data to life by creating a compelling narrative.

Our university offers a supportive, inclusive, caring, and positive community. We warmly welcome those of different cultures, ethnicities, and beliefs – indeed this very diversity is vital to our success, it is fundamental to our values and enriches life on campus.
