Frederick Evans lantern slides showing Southwell Minster, 1890s

This category of material held by The University of Nottingham covers collections entirely or predominantly made up of photographs.

Collections include the Frederick Evans Collection of Lantern Slides depicting Lincoln Cathedral and Southwell Minster in the late 19th century, and the Mugridge collection of photographic slides depicting Nottingham in the 20th century. There are other smaller collections of photographs, predominantly recording scenes from the East Midlands. The subject matter varies according to the interests of the photographer.

Many photographs can also be found within larger collections. The Family and Estate Collections contain photographs from the UK and abroad, including rare scenes of the Crimean War, Hong Kong and Russia. There are also many photographs in the University Archives, including a series from the School of Agriculture at Sutton Bonington.
