Nottingham SSO winners 2021

Lenton & Wortley hall win Student Switch Off 2020-21

Thank you to everyone for taking part in this year’s Student Switch Off campaign. Over the year, we calculated which hall saved the most energy per person and recycled the most, with adjustments made for fluctuations in occupancy. We're happy to announce that the overall winners for 2020-21 are Lenton & Wortley. Closely followed by Hugh Stewart in 2nd place and Derby in 3rd.

Congratulations to our top 3, and our winners in Lenton & Wortley who will be voting for their preferred charity to receive a donation in their name.

You can see where each hall finished on our leader board here.

Your actions made a difference

Collectively we saved 33,000 kg CO2 through electricity reduction in halls. This is equivalent to nearly 50 return flights from Manchester to New York. Over 400 students got involved with campaigns, taking actions such as saving energy, reducing waste, recycling more and saving water.

We hope you’ve learnt something new this year about sustainable living. If you’re moving into a rented house next year you can view the SOS advice page here for information on saving money on your energy bills and keeping warm in a private house. Or watch a webinar here with advice and tips.
