The university prides itself on being able to provide a wide and varied catering offering to enhance our staff and student experience.
This presents opportunities to ensure we do this in an ethical and sustainable way.
Our new Sustainable Food Policy sets out the guiding principles we will use to embed sustainability within catering.

- Achieving 2 stars for the Food Made Good sustainable catering rating
- Implementing the principles of Menus of Change into our menus to support the health of both people and planet
- Ensuring the majority of our catering suppliers are contracted through a TUCO framework, where additional due diligence and sustainability standards have been met
- Reducing food waste and using Too Good to Go to sell surplus food
- Reducing disposables by moving towards crockery and encouraging reusable coffee cup usage through our Latte Levy
- Partnering with Himmah, a social justice organisation, to help tackle poverty, racism and education inequalities
- Providing soya milk in our cafes free of charge
