We are delighted that our Department of American & Canadian Studies has been placed 3rd among 23 departments for its research into Area Studies, according to the results of the REF2021 (Research Excellence Framework), the national assessment of UK university research. We were pleased to see the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures placed 6th out of 47 departments nationally, and 3rd out of 25 departments in the Russell Group of research-intensive universities.
In our Department of Cultural, Media and Visual Studies, 90% of our research environment has been recognised as of world leading quality and 100% of our impact case studies have been recognized as having outstanding or very considerable impact according to the department's REF results.
