PhD Student, Faculty of Arts

I am currently a PhD student in Medieval History at the University of Nottingham under the supervision of Dr Ross Balzaretti and Dr Claire Taylor. My research is funded by the John Robinson PhD Studentship in History.

Previously, I studied History (BA) and Historical Sciences (MA) at the State University of Milan, where I have also completed a two-year Diploma in Archival Science, Latin Palaeography and Diplomatics.

Research Summary

Thesis title: Politics and Pastoral Care. The Bishops of North-Western Lombardy during the post-Carolingian period (888-962)

My doctoral research aims to 1) develop our understanding of bishops as lords of their dioceses in what Timothy Reuter called 'a Europe of bishops'; 2) use bishops to open new perspectives on the political history of the Kingdom of Italy between the Carolingian and Ottonian empires.
