Our PhD programme combines academic theory with good practice. A research degree provides you with a launch-pad to a successful career in academia, commerce, industry, the public sector or as an entrepreneur.
Research is at the centre of all our activities and our doctoral programmes are an integral part of our strategy for research excellence.
Apply for research courses
Our distinctive contributions to the future of business and management are through recognised areas of outstanding research.
If you are interested in our research courses, we advise you to contact potential PhD supervisors directly to discuss your application.
You do not need to identify a supervisor before you apply - but it is helpful if a potential supervisor is already interested in your project. If you are unable to contact a member of academic staff we can search for a supervisor for you once we have received your application.
The Business School's focus on entrepreneurship was a massive draw for me. It's a very supportive, challenging and rewarding environment in which to carry out research. It is a truly transformational experience.
