Over 150 local residents joined the free drop-in arts and crafts session delivered by UoN student volunteers led by NCI Manager Hua Geddes at Lakeside Arts on Sunday 26th January.
A variety of activities were offered to meet the interests of different age groups, ranging from colouring for the youngest children, lantern making and paper cutting zodiac animals for older children and Chinese knot making for adults. Many attendees, old and young, also had a go at Chinese calligraphy with guidance from our student calligrapher, beautifully dressed in traditional Han costume.
The Performing Art Studio was packed with people throughout the afternoon. Many shared their enthusiasm with exuberant thanks to NCI staff and student volunteers for their time and effort in helping them celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Rat.
