Language research labs

In our labs, we:

• monitor people’s eye movements using eye-tracking, to see how they read, look at scenes and watch movies
• apply electrodes to the skin and/or scalp to measure electrodermal activity (EDA) which measures increases in skin conductance that are caused by sweating due to emotionally arousing stimuli when people read
• use facial electromyography (EMG) to detect facial muscle movement that indicates emotional responses like frowning or smiling when people read or see images
• use electroencephalograms (EEG) and event-related potentials (ERP) that measure the electrical activity of the brain to words when reading or listening
