From first ideas through to commercialisation and industry partnerships, Research & Innovation provides guidance and expert advice to support the delivery of the University’s research and knowledge exchange strategies, and achievement of its RKE ambitions. 

We manage the research and knowledge exchange (RKE) portfolio (approximately £900 million in active research, training and KE grants) in collaboration with the academic community, and deliver against institutional and external key performance indicators in order to ensure the university’s compliance with major funders and government agencies.

Finding direction without having everything figured out

Description
Ivié attended the Future Connections conference in London, and she shares how it has helped her to formulate her career plans. On February 6th, over 50 University of Nottingham staff, students, and local residents gathered at the Si Yuan Centre for "The Violin in China"—an evening of music and cultural discovery led by Dr. Huang Ziluo. The session explored the instrument's remarkable journey, from its arrival in China during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties to its evolution into a vibrant voice in modern Chinese music.

Building Climate-resilient livestock feed systems in semi-arid Africa

Description
Researchers at the University of Nottingham Food Systems Institute have been part of an international trilateral innovation grant addressing this challenge. The work directly involves identification, testing, and promotion of high-yielding, drought-tolerant, and nutritionally superior forage species suitable for smallholder livestock production in semi-arid systems.
