The Department is delighted to announce the appointment of Dr David Irving as Lecturer in Music, from September 2012. David is currently Director of Studies in Music at Downing College, Cambridge, and Senior Post-Doctoral Research Associate for an ERC-funded project, ‘Musical Transitions to European Colonialism in the Eastern Ocean’ at King’s College, London, and has a wealth of experience as a professional violinist and harpsichordist (he has recorded with the Gabrieli Consort, The Hanover Band, La Serenissima, the Early Opera Company and other ensembles and orchestras).
