First-year music student Madeleine Pettit has been shortlisted for the prestigious Observer/Anthony Burgess Prize for Arts Journalism. Madeleine’s article, on a Blur concert at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens, was one of only seven shortlisted entrants selected by a distinguished panel of judges including the novelist Kate Mosse, the writers Alexandra Harris and Ruth Scurr, and associate editor of The Observer Robert McCrum.
The winner of the £2,000 prize will be announced by the judges on the evening of Thursday 25 February 2016 at Kings Place, London, in a ceremony hosted by The Observer newspaper.
