Teacher training pre-course information

Welcome to the Primary PGCE

Firstly we'd like to offer our congratulations on being awarded a place on the innovative Primary PGCE programme at the University of Nottingham.

We firmly believe that your ITE experience extends beyond the boundaries of a September-June year and so there are various things that we would like you to work on between now and the start of the course. Please read carefully through the ‘Pre-course Preparation’ section and ensure you complete all the required tasks. You should also:

  • gain as much experience as you can in a school setting
  • read about current issues in education, for example reading TES weekly
  • talk to people who are experienced teachers or have recently qualified about teaching and learning
  • think about your own teaching and learning experience and your own philosophies about education
  • think about how you will build skills and practices that will help you build resilience in your teaching career, reviewing the BRiTE materials will help with this

If you have any queries or concerns, please contact us.

Best wishes
