This page will give you a list of activities you will need to complete before you arrive. You can use this as a checklist to to help with you preparations and may also want to save this to-do list document to keep track of your progress.
A copy of your CV will be shared with your placement school. This is because the department or year team you will be joining will want to know some key information about you before you join them. A copy is also shared with your tutor. It is important that you create a positive and professional first impression.
We ask all students to use a common format. Please do not submit your own version of your CV, it will be returned to you, and you will be asked to use the template provided.
Please complete your CV using this CV template and email it to uonschoolpartnership@nottingham.ac.uk no later than Friday 25 August.
When emailing, please remember to include your full name, PGCE course and subject in the title of your email.
In accordance with the DfE guidelines we will need to assure that you have the necessary skills in maths and English to become a teacher.
The process for assessing your skills will have started at the interview stage and you should already have a good sense of whether you need to develop your skills in either English or mathematics. To further support your assessment of your maths skills please complete the National Numeracy Challenge. Your tutor will discuss this with you at your first tutorial.
DfE bursary You may be entitled to receive a bursary or scholarship during your training year if one is offered to you by the DfE. These bursaries or scholarships are paid directly to you by the university in 10 equal monthly instalments, October to July. You will be sent a letter before the start of your course informing you of your bursary eligibility, this information will be provisional until we have seen evidence of your qualifications.
You will receive your bursary confirmation letter by email week commencing 21 August 2023. You will be asked to acknowledge receipt of the letter by completing a short form, the link to this form is embedded in the email. You must complete this form by 22 September 2023 and add your banking information to your MyNottingham portal for the first payment to be made to you at the end of October. It is important to note that the university is not able to make payment to you unless you are a fully registered student. It is your responsibility to ensure you complete all parts of the registration process fully. To ensure you can receive payments, it is important that you provide your valid UK bank account details via the Finances section of MyNottingham and enrol in Direct Deposit. For information on how to do this, including help guides, please go to our 'submit your bank details' webpage. You may be eligible for a University of Nottingham Core Bursary - see the fees and funding page for further details.
