This new service is an expansion of our Enhanced Library Support, and we will now provide access to assistive equipment for use anywhere within library buildings.
What is assistive equipment?
Assistive equipment refers to devices designed to help you perform certain activities if you have a disability, restricted mobility, or other impairment.
Whether you need specialised mice and keyboards when working on a PC, or ear defenders to reduce distracting sounds, we’ll be providing specialist assistive equipment so you can study more effectively.
Assistive equipment loanable from libraries such as:
- Backlit large print keyboards with wrist rests
- Ergonomic split keyboards with vertical mouse (QWERTY)
- Ear defenders
- Wired headphones with mic
- Magnifying glass with lamp
- Left-handed vertical mouse
- Standard ergonomic vertical mouse
- Trackball mouse
- Large black letters on yellow keys keyboard
How to access equipment
To borrow equipment, simply approach library staff at our reception desks, ask for the equipment you would like to borrow and provide your university card. They will then place the items on your library account.
You can borrow assistive equipment for up to 3 hours, however you can renew items if they are still available. The equipment can be used anywhere within the library building.
