The LiPP team has expertise in researching digital communication in a range of online contexts, such as blogs, company websites, e-forums, Twitter and Facebook.

We use a variety of approaches, from close text analysis to the analysis of large bodies of online texts, using specialised software. We are particularly interested in studying the presentation of professional and corporate online identities and the building and maintenance of virtual communities, as well as online conflict. We have studied the web presence of private, public and third sector businesses and organisations.

Our areas of expertise include:

  • email effectiveness analysis
  • social media language analysis
  • website effectiveness analysis, including eye-tracking
  • digital storytelling at work
  • online community-building
  • digital discourses of crime and discrimination
  • strategies for fast and effective online troubleshooting
