Biography

Dr James Roe completed his PhD in Sociology and Mental Health from the University of Nottingham in 2013. His PhD research was a detailed study of ways in which professionals' views and practices, organisational constraints and other sources contribute towards mental health service users' assumed and attributed social identities.

He has carried out previous research and evaluation studies in collaboration with the NHS, Prison, Probation and Police Services. He has previously worked for the Probation Service, NHS and as a research consultant.

James joined the University of Nottingham in February 2015 as part of the NIHR funded Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care - East Midlands (CLAHRC-EM) as the lead researcher on a self-harm and depression randomised controlled trial (e-DASH study). James is currently a Research Fellow on a study exploring the uptake and implementation of NICE guidelines on Bipolar Disorder.
