Research in Mental Health and Clinical Neuroscience

We address key areas relevant to clinical neurosciences using a spectrum of methods. This includes embracing basic science, translational and experimental medicine, and clinical research including large randomised trials.

We conduct high quality research that:

  • enhances our understanding of the causes, mechanisms and treatment of mental disorder and criminal offending across the lifespan
  • promotes individual and organisational health and wellbeing
  • improves policies, systems and the delivery of services in order to achieve these goals.

Much of this work is embedded in the NHS, particularly Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. We bring cutting-edge clinical care to our patients and clinical relevance to our research and teaching.
