Biodiscovery Institute Brochure 2025
The new brochure from the University of Nottingham’s Biodiscovery Institute (BDI) highlights a number of recent successes and significant expansions of its research capabilities. The BDI accommodates 85 research groups and approximately 1000 researchers, clinicians and support staff, and fostering collaboration between the Schools of Chemistry, Life Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine and Science and the faculty of Engineering into an environment where interdisciplinary research can flourish. These are engaged in research in biotechnology for a more sustainable future and improving human health through new drug discovery, advanced materials for healthcare and better understanding of disease. The brochure provides a directory of the advanced facilities that the BDI can offer as well as the specialised research areas and techniques available from the principal investigators which span six multidisciplinary research themes.
Bringing together researchers from a diverse range of disciplines has made developing a supportive environment and positive research culture a key aim of the BDI. The re-energised BDI Early Career Researcher Committee continues to re-building post-COVID communities via research/careers symposia, sports events, bake sales, and various outreach events and activities. BDI’s newsletter, ‘Beady Eye’, is a quarterly highlight that communicates diverse researcher led activities, personal and group successes, and advice. This knits with the BDI 2023-2028 strategy, where evolving our facilities and research culture ensures the Institute is greater than the sum of its parts.
