University of Nottingham receives £4.4m funding for world-class bioscience research programme

University of Nottingham receives £4.4m funding for world-class bioscience research programme

Description
The GlycoWeb programme led by BDI's Cathy Merry, Professor of Stem Cell Glycobiology, will look at the link between the structure and function of cell-surface sugar biomolecules called Glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). GAGs have been shown to play critical roles in a multitude of biological processes, including cell signalling and development and host-pathogen interactions. The team assembled for this programme will apply a diverse set of approaches to address fundamental knowledge gaps surroudning GAGs using an ambitious multidisciplinary approach, integrating analyses at the transcriptional through to the multicellular level.
